Parts of Surrey face Tier 2 COVID measures

137,000 people living in Elmbridge, Surrey will move to Tier 2 COVID measures from Saturday. There are currently three possible Tiers 1-3, all reflecting the number of COVID-19 cases in any given area. This change was announced today by the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock MP.

These new measures come as other areas of the country such as Liverpool go into local lockdown. Areas of North London and Essex will also be moving to Tier 2 this weekend.

What are the COVID Measures?

  1. Medium
    • Rule of 6 for any meeting
    • Pubs and restaurants close at 10pm
  2.  High
    • No households mixing indoors
    • Rule of 6 for any meeting
    • Pubs and restaurants close at 10pm
  3. Very High
    • No household mixing
    • Rule of 6 in outdoor public places
    • Only pubs and bars serving food can open
    • Guidance against travelling to or from a Tier 3 area
