This is a question that gets asked a lot. Because of Ash’s unique location it is viewed as part of wider Aldershot Urban area, and indeed Ash residents use the post address: Ash, Aldershot, Hampshire. Despite this however, Ash is located in Surrey. Ash is part of the much larger Ash Parish comprising Ash, Ash Wharf, Ash Green and Ash Vale, which despite using a Hampshire postal address are all in Surrey.
Ash Parish is at the westernmost border of Guildford Borough Council, but is in the Surrey Heath parliamentary constituency. Because of the proximity to Aldershot, Hampshire Postal address, Surrey Heath MP and Guildford Borough inclusion, Ash is well known to confuse people.

Ash is also overshadowed by Ash Vale, which has a direct line to London Waterloo station, this despite Ash Vale being just a part of Ash, has made it more prominent in the public conciseness, and so adds to the confusion around Ash’s location.
Residents in Ash Can use ‘Aldershot, Hampshire’ in their address, but they can also use ‘Ash, Surrey’ instead. Although it is thought, and has been said anecdotally, that posting items to ‘Ash, Surrey’ makes them slower to arrive.
So there you have it. Ash is in Surrey.

Ash is certainly not in Hampshire or even Aldershot – Ash residents know to whom they pay their rates.
